Whether there is glorious sunshine or it’s a washout, here are some of the key trends to keep you looking hot all summer long.
Colours
Nudes and pastel shades are the base pallet for this summer’s wardrobe: think powder pink, peach, oyster and apricot.
All white- a perennial summer favorite, is still white hot. Add metallic accessories to finish off this look, gold adds that sun kissed glow.
Trends
Romantic – soft tailoring, frills, bows, pleats and lace looks dominate in nude shades.
Military - This army-esque trend has been reworked for 2010, forget combat pants and army surplus, think more individual than clean cut. Team your military pieces with shreds, tattered t-shirts; bullet belts; artfully 'destroyed,' stained, and holed jeans, raggedy suede and sequined camouflage.
Breton Stripes - The boat neck mariner style top, an iconic classic made famous by Coco Channel is casual, easy to wear and versatile. Worn with jeans or dressed up with a skirt, it’s the must have stable in your wardrobe this summer. The more traditional versions have been given a fresh look with rouched shoulders, smaller stripe widths, three quarter sleeves and figure hugging.
Floral Prints – Pretty petals, big and bold geometric florals, digital and fantasy prints are blossoming this summer. These eye catching prints make even the simplest outfit stand out from the crowd.
Key Pieces
The Maxi dress – Romantic and feminine, this seasons maxi’s come in a huge array of differing styles, appropriate for women of all shapes and ages. With or without sleeves, scoop neck, empire line, floral print or plain block colours, the choice is yours.
Short Shorts – The short story of a summer classic, in varying styles. High waisted, dressy, denim and bottom skimming, this look is not for the faint hearted.
